  • Let's Talk APC's

    I'm still upgrading my factory to unlock the APC but I was wondering how those people who already have it are using it. I have yet to be attacked by one. I like the idea of a unit that produces more units for long battles. I was wondering if people deployed them with their regular armies to stay in the large group or some other strategy. The ones I received in the gift event I would generally drop them right after my first rally and usually away from the main army. That seemed to work well but I only used them in war so I could never really watch to see how they did. How has anyone here used them effectively?

        best used by romans, germans, and japanese nations, as they spawn the stronger unique nation units.

          I used them once (got them as a gift) and they lasted longer than any other 'special' troop. The vehicle mows down defenders to keep your footmen safe & the footmen deal great damage in numbers.
          If I ever get to AA I'll definitely incorporate APCs!

            The few times I have used the APC (event troops in all cases I believe) they performed wonderfully! They basically protect themselves as they go although I have lost one or two that strayed too close to the cannon towers... All in all an excellent unit to strive for.
            Has anyone had one donated to them yet? I am curious how it does defending.

              I think it would get destroyed quickly defending but you never know. I appreciate the posts. I will have them in a few days and will repost a new thread with my own feedback once I test them. Thanks

                It appears to me the machine gun on the APC only targets one troop at a time, rather than multiple troops like a regular machine gun troop.

                  I just replaced my tanks with APC's in battles. Keep your troops together and they will do great. Best thing is once they have done a few deploys all the foot troops can start ripping through walls pretty well.

                    Do the foot soldiers tend to stick near the APCs and distract the antitank guns?

                    After finally using the APC extensively now I use it in my standard army. I'm Atomic French and use 5 footies, 32 shooters, 5 tanks, 3 field howies, 3 healers, 2 heavy bazookas, and 1 APC with 4 planes. The APC does a great job dropping 3 footies every 8 seconds. The footies do some destruction but I find them best to just absorb damage. The APC sticks with the main group and rarely dies in a successful attack so the 12 troop space pays for itself easily when you consider it drops 18 footies per minute. There is a cap to how many footies it can have dropped at one time but I'm not sure what it is and if your footies are surviving then you are doing well anyway.

                      Please confirm that your apc is dropping 3 footies per 8 seconds. I read that it was only 2 each deployment. Thanks

                      I stand corrected. It is 2 footies. But it's still a great vehicle to add to the mix and it pays for itself after 54 seconds assuming the footies are killed regularly. Of course there is still the opportunity cost of that 12 troop space but I'll let someone else figure that out...

                        Found on Domi wiki. "APC will deploy its unique Heavy Infantry troops depending on their nation and age (2 per surge). Such transport will deploy troops once the troops it has deployed previously have already been killed / terminated by the opponent". It means for 1 APC, you can only get max 2 infrantry or max 46 (9s/surge vs 3:30 min per battle)

                          Each APC will keep spawning 2 every 9 seconds, up to a max of 6 on the map at any given time. If 1 of the 6 dies, it will deploy more.
